Leonard L. Wing, age 36 y Claimed Residence in Wayne, enlisted 13 Oct. 1862 as a Private in G. Co. 24th Inf Reg. ME, participated in the Battle of Port Hudson, Lousiana on 27 May 1863, 5 May 1863, 4 June 1863, 6 June 1863, 14 June 1863, 16 June 1863, 19 June 1863, 1 July 1863, and was mustered out at Augusta on 28 August 1863.

On 4 Jan 1864 he enlisted as a Private in C Co. 19th Inf Reg. ME and died at New Orleans, LA (8/18/1864.)

Wing Fam. by C.P. Wing, 1881, pg 2 55: He enlisted in the United States Army during the late Civil War, first Sept. 10, 1862 and again Dec. --, 1863. He was in battles of the Red River Expedition under General Banks and died at New Orleans Aug. 18, 1864, a member of the 29th Maine Regiment of Volunteers. His remains were brought to his native town and reinterred in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery April 18, 1865. Hist. of W ayne, 1898, pg 175: On the list of Constables & Collectors: 1857
