Wilson B. Elder Called by Death

Well-Known Former Eldersridge Educator Died on Saturday Night

Funeral was Held Today

Wilson Barnett Elder died at the home of his father-in-law, A. P. Watson, on South Seventh street, on Saturday evening at 7:40, after an extended illness of about six weeks, aged 47 years. Several years ago Mr. Elder, who was then principal of Eldersridge Academy, suffered a stroke of paralysis. Later he suffered another stroke which affected his one side and necessitated his resigning as head of the academy. He then removed to Indiana. A few weeks ago he suffered a third stroke and his condition from that time on was regarded as critical. His death was due to this last stroke and complications incident to it.

Mr Elder was born at Elders Ridge, this county and was a son of the late T. B. Elder, who was for years principal of the historic Elders Ridge academy. He was educated at Elders Ridge and at Washington & Jefferson college, after which he was elected head of the academy and remained as such until about six years ago, when illhealth compelled him to resign.

He leaves his widow, his mother, Mrs. T. B. Elder, of Aurelia street, East End, Pittsburgh; and two children, Thomas B. Jr., and Martha E Elder; two sisters, Miss Marguerett Elder and Mrs. W. T. Larimer of Altoona, and one brother, John Elder, of Detroit, Mich.

Funeral services over the remains were held at the Watson home on South Seventh street on Monday evening at eight o'clock by the Rev. J. Day Brownlee. the remains were taken to Blairsville on the 6 o'clock street car this morning, from where they were taken by train to Saltsburg, and the remaining distance to Eldersridge was made overland. Internment was made there this afternoon.
