Newville, Abraham (b. 12 OCT 1819, d. ?)

Note: About 1836, Abraham came with his parents to Allegany Co., NY About 1850, Electa C. Gifford arrived in Allen and shortly thereafter, Abram married her. In looking at the 1850 and 1855 census, one could make a fair assumption that Electra was a widow with a 2 year old son and that her married name was Blavit. The name Gifford is the one used in the family history of the decendants and may have been her maiden name. In any event, the 1855 census shows Edward Blavit as an adopted son. Between 1865 and 1870, Abraham sells his property and moves to Nunda, Livingston Co., NY He remained in the vicinity until his death in Portage, NY. He and Electra are buried i Nunda Cemetary, Livingston Cemetary Co., NY Abraham was obviously a very conscientious son. His father, JOHN, lived with him in his old age. His older sister, Ann Eliza, lived with him from about 1850 until her death in 1887. Ann Eliza apparently had the family bible which was lost in a fire that destroyed Abraham's home.
