Boy, 15, Crushed by Car
Bert Phillips Jr., 15, son of Mr. and Mrs, Bert A. Phillips of James Rd., Bellville, RD 2 was killed early today in a one-car accident on State Route 97, near the Memorial Shrine in the Mohican State Forest.
The Phillips youth, a Clear Fork High School junior, was crushed to death when he was pinned under the wreckage, highway patrolman from the Ashland post said.
Driver Injured
He was a passenger in a car driven by Robert Kershner, 18, of Fredericktown, RD 1. Kershner suffere severe cuts and was taken to Kettering Hospital, Loudonville, where he was treated and released.
The accident occurred at 12:58 a.m. when Kershner?s westbound car went out of control on a curve and rolled over several times, patrolmen said. Both boys were thrown from the car. When the car flipped over the final time it landed on the Phillips boy, pinning him beneath it.
The youth?s death was the sixth traffic fatality in Ashland County this year compared with two at this time last year.
Brothers Survive
Besides his parents the Phillips youth is survived by two brothers, Richard, of Mansfield, and Alan at home; his maternal grandfather, Dale Kilgore in Michigan, and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Blanche Kilgore of Mansfield.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday from the Snyder Funeral Home, Bellville, conducted by the Rev. B. R. Lewis. Burial will be in the Bellville Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday afternoon and evening.

Abram Phinney, born in 1824, is a son of Jabez and grandson of John Phinney. His mother was Hannah, daughter of John Perry. He was a sailor from eleven years of age until 1876. He was tharried in 1853 to Lucinda E., daughter of Perez Burgess. They have two Sons: Perez H. and Roswell B., who are both married. Perez H. has been postmaster at Monument Beach since 1878, and station agent since 1883.
