Our Billy a Benedict
Word was received here yesterday of the marriage last Saturday of Wm. C. Burgess of Oakland, a former well-known attorney of this city, to Marcia Duquesne of Berkeley. The wedding took place on Stockton, being solemnized by Rev. Lundy of that city. Mr Burgess before removing from here was prominent in church and social circles. He was a Lieutenant in Company H, when it was in its prime, and took a prominent part in the chase for the Folsom convicts after the prison break in 1903, being one of those in the battle on Manzaita hill when the company lost two of its boys. Besides being brave and fearless, he is a scholar and gentleman. Hosts of friends here will wish him and his bride a full measure of happiness.
