Note: 24 FEB 1862 During the Civil War, he enlisted on 2/24/1862 in Co.D. of the tenth Reigiment of Iowa Vol. He was wounded in the right thigh on 10/4/1862 at the battle of Corinth, Mississippi. He was honorably discharged on 8/28/1863 at Keokuk, Iowa for disability.
He died after suffering from a long and painful illness. He bore his pain patiently. Only at times when almost more than he could endure he would wish for the end to come as he was ready

I Henry Cooper, being of sound mind and memory do hereby make and execute this my last will and testament hereby revoking any Will heretofore made by me.
1st I hereby give devise and bequeath to my Wife all household goods and the right to occupy the home place if it is her wish as long as she shall live, also to keep a horse and buggy, also the income of all my property during her lifetime, the above provision being in lieu of dower,
2nd I hereby appoint my Sons John H. and F.H. Cooper, as executors of this Will and ask that they be exonerated from giving Bonds as such
3rd I direct that my executors shall after my death, sell all my personal property, they shall pay all my just debts, funeral expenses and costs of administration, and shall cause a monument to be erected for me and my Wife at a cost of five hundred dollars, the interest of the remainder shall be paid to my Wife during her lifetime;
4th One year after her death my real estate is to be sold by my executors at private sale for the best price obtainable and the proceeds divided as follows to-wit; to my son Charles three hundred dollars to my son Bert D. Cooper, one hundred dollars; the remainder to be divided between my other children, then living in equal shares, share and share alike, In witness whereof I have hereunto signed my name this 8th day of August A D 1910, Witness to Will Henry Cooper, W. A. Jackson, Leon B. Bentley, on the 8th day of August A D 1910, we the undersigned saw Henry Cooper sign his name above and at his request and in his presence we signed the said instrument as witnesses thereto W A Jackson and Leon B. Bentley.
I Henry Cooper being of sound mind do hereby execute the following codicil to the Will heretofore executed by me August 8 1910; I hereby reaffirm all of the provisions of said Will except the fourth paragraph thereof, the said fourth paragraph I hereby cancel and set aside, in lieu thereof I substitute the following provision in place thereof; I hereby devise all my real estate to my executors in trust for the purpose herein set forth; they shall pay the income of said real estate after paying taxes and necessary repairs to my Wife during her lifetime; one year after her death my real estate is to be sold by my executors at private sale for the best price obtainable and the proceeds of said sale and of my estate shall be divided between my children then living in equal shares, share and share alike; Witnesses, Henry Cooper, G. H. Johnson, J.R. Caldwell, On the 5th day of April A D 1911, we the undersigned saw Henry Cooper sign his name above as and for a codicil to his Will and at his request and in his presence and in the presence of each other we have signed our names thereto as subscribing witnesses at Toledo Iowa, April 5th 1911, J. R. Caldwell G. H. Johnson.

I A.L Hutchison clerk of the district court of Iowa, in and for Tama County, do Hereby Certify that on this 29th day of April 1910, the matter of the last Will and testament and codicil of Henry Cooper deceased in the premises, said court orders that the instrument hereto attached to be declared to be, and is hereby established, as the last Will and testament and codicil thereto of said Henry Cooper deceased, and the same is hereby admitted to probate, and ordered to be so certified and recorded as required by law in testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the seal of said court at Toledo, in said County, this 29th day of April 1913

JOHN COOPER, 92, LIFE-LONG MONTOUR RESIDENT, IS DEAD
Toledo - Funderal services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Henderson funeral home in Toledo for John F. Cooper, 92, who died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. H.J. Princehouse of near Montour, Wednesday morning, March 8, 1950.
The services will be in charge of Rev. D.H. Artman, pastor of First Methodist church, Toledo. Burial will be in Turner cemetery northwest of Toledo.
John F. Cooper, the son of Lisa and John Cooper was born in Indian Village township, Tama County, May 27, 1857, on the farm where his grandson, Merle Princehouse, now lives. He resided during his entire lifetime in Idian Village township, farming there for many years. Since the marriage of his daughter, Mrs. Princehouse, he has made his home with her. He was married to Ella Levis who died 55 years ago.
Surviving in addition to Mrs. Princehouse with whom he resided, is another daughter, Mrs. Alta Princehouse of North Hollywood, Calif., and three sons, Frank G. Cooper, LeRoy, Minn, Earl H. Cooper, Cutler City, Ore. and John M. Cooper of Montour.
