Miss Burgess soon to Wed Harvard Aide
With scarcely one wedding over in the household of Mr and Mrs Robert Noble Burgess, there are now plans for a third, since Miss Polly Holcomb Burgess, their youngest daughter yesterday made known her engagement to Mr Thomas Henry Carroll of San Francisco, assistant dean of men at the Harvard School of Business Administration in Boston, Mass. And it is in that city that the future home of the young couple will be.
The announcement was made at a luncheon for intimate friends of the bride-elect, when guests discovered novelty match folders at their place with the inscription ?It?s a match for Polly and Tom.?
Miss Burgess is a sister of Mrs James Rolph Moore, Mrs Edward Soule Jr (Suzanne Burgess) whose wedding took place only recently, and Mrs Gerrit L Keane who was Nancie Burgess before her marriage earlier in the Summer. She has one brother Mr Robert Burgess Jr.
Mr Carroll is a son of Mrs William Carroll of San Francisco and of the late Mr Carroll. He is a brother of the Misses Jessie, Edith and Marie Carroll, all of San Francisco. He was graduated from the University of California, before he attended Harvard Business School from which he received his degree.
Places at luncheon were set for the Misses Betsy Flye, Virginia Sayre, Betty Frankhauser, Jean Bleuel, barabara Barry, Anne Ristenpart, Margaret Mayze, Jean Harlow, gail and Gloria Grigg, Marilyn Branscheid, Jean Elliott, Alice Peters, Katherine Scott, Mona Janney, Maidie Oppenheimer and the three sisters of the bride-elect, Mrs James Rolph Moore, Mrs Edward Soule Jr and Mrs Gerrit L Keane.
The wedding is planned for December and will take place at ?The Homestead,? in Walnut Creek as did that of her sisters.
