Robert Oakley Died Wednesday

Elkland Young man Wounded Fatally by discharge of Gun.

Robert Oakley, aged about 21 years, am employee of the Elkland Leather Co., Inc., died at the Blossurg hospital Wednesday night as the result of a gun shot wound in his neck. The weapon was accidentally discharged. Mr. Oakley is survived by his widow who resides in Coudersport; his father, Deforest Oakley, of Hinsdale, N. Y. and one brother. Burial at Olean, N. Y.

The death of Oakley, was declared accidental by county officials and state troopers after a thorough investigation of the case.

Oakley stated after the shooting that the wound was inflicted when the gun discharged while he was showing it to a friend in his rooming house Saturday evening. Two couples present at the time were interviewed by the officials and their version of the affair corroborated that of Oakley.

Constable George Dorrance of Elkland; State Troopers Izenhower and Vastine, of Mansfield, and County Detective Roy Wilcox, of Wellsboro, conducted the investigation.
