Note: In the 1800 census John is shown at Halfmoon, Saratoga Co., N.Y. This census was prepared the 23rd day of October, 1779. He is listed as John Novel. There is nearly absolute consistency in family tradition that the Newville's came from France. In 1810, the family is in Manlius, Onondaga Co., N.Y. and in 1820 and 1830 in Edinburg, Saratoga Co., N.Y. They moved to Conesus, Livingstone Co., N.Y. and in 1836, John buys land in Allen Twp., Allegany Co., N.Y. There the family remained until Patience's death 22 February, 1845 and John's on 27 September, 1852. Both are buried at St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetary at Allen Center. John served in the War of 1812 in Captain Josiah Perry's Co. of N.Y. Militia at Platsburg, N.Y.
