Thou art not in grave confinded -
Death cannot claim Immortal mind.
Let earth close o'er Its sacred trust -

Taylor, Mary (b. 1832, d. AFT 1884)
Note: The Olean Democrat (Olean, New York) > 1884 > August > 19

Mrs Mary Collins and O. B. Adsit are neighbors on Clinton street. Mrs. Collins claimed Adsit had stolen two of her chickens – Adsit denied the allegation, and the case was brought before McKiniey for settlement. Mrs. Collins was so sure of her property that she informed Willey that if he would let the chickens out of Adsit’s coop and the two chickens failed to come to her when she called, she would withdraw the suit and pay the costs. So Wiley liberated the fowls, Mrs. Collins let out her melodious voice, and sure enough, two chicks separated from the rest and flew into Mrs. Collins’ yard. She won her suit.
